Job Summary

This role involves working as a Physical-Technical Assistant within the Institute for Applied Geosciences, focusing on the independent planning and execution of complex laboratory experiments. Key responsibilities include conducting physical experiments to determine elastic, thermal, and electrical properties, performing diffractometry, and meticulously documenting all results. The assistant will also contribute to the further development of measuring apparatuses and participate in field experiments, particularly borehole measurement technology. A crucial aspect is supporting academic teaching by conducting laboratory exercises. Candidates must be Physical-Technical Assistants (PTA), Mechatronics Engineers, or possess an equivalent qualification (e.g., BSc in a related field or CTA with physical measurement experience) and demonstrate experience with electromechanical devices, including their control and monitoring. The position requires strong teamwork, autonomy in implementing new technical solutions, and sufficient English skills for international communication.

Required Skills

Education

Physical-Technical Assistant (PTA) qualification, Mechatronics Engineer qualification, or equivalent (e.g., BSc in a related field, Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA) with experience in physical measurement technology)

Experience

  • Professional experience with electromechanical devices and their control and monitoring
  • Professional experience in physical measurement technology (for CTA qualification)
  • Experience working at a university, college, or comparable scientific institution (Desirable)
