Job Summary
This role involves actively contributing to the development of the DataPLANT infrastructure, a key component of Germany's National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). The Research Software Engineer will be responsible for capturing and implementing various use cases and APIs, conducting rigorous testing, error analysis, and performance tuning to ensure system efficiency. Day-to-day tasks also include proactive system monitoring and optimization, as well as participating in discussions and coordination with DataPLANT partners and other NFDI consortia. A crucial part of the job is providing consultation and training to the DataPLANT user community. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in Computer Science or Bioinformatics who possesses strong software development and database modeling skills, offering an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of life sciences and informatics in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in software development
- Professional experience with databases and modeling
- Practical knowledge of programming languages
- Practical knowledge of LINUX-based server environments
- Practical knowledge in the development of web applications
- Practical knowledge in the use of middleware technologies
