Job Summary

The Technical University of Dresden (TUD), a University of Excellence, is seeking a Research Associate or Doctoral Candidate for a three-year, 75% full-time position within the Theoretical Chemistry Chair. This role is focused on applying modern theoretical chemistry methods, including first principles, kinetic Monte-Carlo, and machine learning, to study the sorption and diffusion of radionuclides (U, Pu, Am) and decay products (Zr) through rock minerals. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary and international team to investigate diffusion phenomena critical for assessing potential radioactive waste repositories and develop immobilization methods for these ions. Key requirements include a university degree (Master's or Diploma) in Chemistry or Physics with a focus on Theoretical/Computational Chemistry/Physics, strong knowledge of simulation methods, and actinide chemistry. This position offers the opportunity for scientific qualification, typically a PhD, within a leading research environment supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
