Job Summary
This role is for an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Process and Building Automation to join the Building and Process Automation (GPA) department at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum in Darmstadt. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the operational readiness of essential supply systems—such as cooling, heating, ventilation, and compressed air—critical for the particle accelerator and the new FAIR facility. Day-to-day tasks involve planning, operating, and maintaining automation stations based on Simatic S7 and S5, performing fault diagnosis, and managing interfaces. A key responsibility includes overseeing external planning consultants for new construction and expansion projects related to technical building equipment. This position offers a demanding, varied, and highly technical environment, requiring expertise in MSR technology, relevant technical standards, and a commitment to continuous professional development, including participation in on-call duty.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (BSc/MSc/Diplom) in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Automation Technology, Drive Technology, or Control and Instrumentation Technology (MSR-Technik)
Experience
- Completed university degree (BSc/MSc/Diplom) in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge and experience in general Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge and experience in Control and Instrumentation Technology (MSR)
- Knowledge and experience in Process and Building Automation based on Simatic S5 and S7
- Knowledge of relevant procurement guidelines, norms, and generally accepted rules of technology for Electrical Engineering and Technical Building Equipment
