Job Summary

The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, involved in the massive international FAIR project, is seeking an ASIC Developer to join the Experimental Electronics Department. This role focuses on the design, testing, and characterization of highly complex mixed-signal ASICs used for detector readout systems in particle physics experiments. Key responsibilities include contributing to concept development for ASIC-based readout architectures, independently designing digital and mixed-signal blocks using VHDL, and performing lab testing and characterization of prototypes. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics and possesses strong knowledge of digital electronics, VHDL, and mixed-signal simulation techniques. Required Skills

Education

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or comparable experience

Experience

  • Professional experience in digital electronics description (e.g., VHDL)
  • Experience with HDL code simulation, static timing analysis, netlist synthesis, and Place & Route tools
  • Experience with embedding analog into digital circuits and vice versa, including mixed-signal simulation
  • Professional experience in testing electronic circuits using modern techniques, software, and equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in the structure and function of nuclear physics experiments (advantageous)
