Job Summary

This doctoral position, based at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt and affiliated with Goethe University Frankfurt, focuses on experimental hadron physics within the international FAIR project. The researcher will be integral to the BRAID consortium, developing AI-based, detector-independent reconstruction frameworks for irregular, high-dimensional sensor data in particle physics. Key responsibilities include researching and prototyping Graph Neural Network (GNN) and Attention components, integrating these into domain pipelines for hadron physics experiments (CBM/PANDA), and contributing to data analysis and public dataset provision. The role requires a Master's degree in a technical field, strong programming skills (Python/C++), and motivation for machine learning and Open Science practices. This is an excellent opportunity to conduct world-class research in a highly international and collaborative environment, focusing on cutting-edge machine learning applications in fundamental physics.
