Job Summary

This is a high-profile, demanding leadership role based in Berlin, serving as the Director for the Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation (Stiftung Flucht, Vertreibung, Versöhnung). The Director will be responsible for leading the entire operation of the foundation, which runs an exhibition, information, and documentation center focused on 20th-century flight and expulsion, particularly of Germans, within the context of WWII. Day-to-day activities involve overseeing the permanent exhibition, developing scientific-based temporary exhibitions, managing collections and documentation, and collaborating with national and international museums and research institutions. The ideal candidate must possess significant experience in leading comparable institutions, strong management skills, and scientific expertise related to forced migration and the expulsion of Germans from Eastern Europe. The role requires exceptional communication skills, political sensitivity, and the ability to engage in dialogue with displaced persons' associations and the public, ensuring the foundation's mission is fulfilled while aiming for legal independence and increased visitor numbers.
