Job Summary

This role is a critical opportunity to join the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) in Koblenz, focusing on the operation and technical management of modern traffic information systems crucial for shipping safety and logistics, such as AIS and DGNSS. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing system performance documentation, coordinating maintenance, and planning resources to meet quality objectives for traffic technology services. Key daily tasks include developing and advancing communication networks, coordinating the evolution of network monitoring and fault management systems, and leading procurement processes according to German public contract law (UVgO, EVB-IT, VgV). You will also manage service agreements and conduct technical training sessions. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with an Information Technology focus, coupled with professional engineering experience and strong knowledge of both radio-based and wired network technologies. The role is initially fixed-term until the end of 2026, offering the chance to contribute actively to the national 'Verkehrstechnik 4.0' strategy and the future of European inland navigation.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (FH Diploma / Bachelor) in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Information Technology or comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience as an engineer
  • Practical experience in project work
  • Experience in measurement technology and fault analysis in network technology
  • Knowledge in procurement law (VgV, UVgO, EVB-IT)
