Job Summary

This role involves serving as an Engineer within the Research and Development division of the German Weather Service (DWD) at the Lindenberg Meteorological Observatory (MOL-RAO). The core responsibility is the independent technical coordination and realization of operational and experimental measurement programs focused on boundary layer processes. Day-to-day tasks include conceptualizing, planning, and implementing measurement technology solutions for scientific topics, coordinating the deployment and procurement of micrometeorological and laboratory measurement technology, and guiding the technical staff. The role also requires programming modules for data processing, quality control, visualization, and managing complex datasets, as well as maintaining sophisticated measurement systems, including those located on masts up to 100 meters high. Candidates must hold a relevant engineering degree (e.g., Environmental, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Information Technology) and possess strong organizational and communication skills.

University of Applied Sciences Diploma (FH-Diplom) or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology

Experience

  • Successfully completed university degree (FH Diploma/Bachelor) in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Environmental Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in planning, setting up, supporting, and documenting complex measurement programs/systems
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience post-graduation is required for the higher salary group (Entgeltgruppe 12)
