Job Summary

This role involves working as a Research Associate within the 'InnoUrbanAqua' project at the University of Rostock, focusing specifically on scientific questions related to aquaponics and vertical farming. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and executing plant growth experiments within aquaponic vertical farming systems, as well as evaluating both plant and fish growth. Key duties include the construction, modification, and dismantling of aquaculture and aquaponics facilities, monitoring systems at the Rostock campus and partner locations, and rigorous data collection. A strong background in Biology or Aquaculture (Master's level or equivalent) is required, alongside proficiency in both German and English. The position is part-time (20 hours/week) and fixed-term until March 2028, offering a challenging research environment focused on sustainable urban food production.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma, or comparable) in Biology, Aquaculture, or a comparable field, preferably with good results

Experience

  • Professional experience in processing projects
  • Professional experience in publishing research results
  • Practical experience in the field of aquaponics (desirable)
  • Experience working with aquatic organisms (fish)
