Job Summary

The GWDG is seeking two Service Architects to join the Application Operations team, focusing on the administration, maintenance, and operational support of Linux-based systems. This role is crucial for supporting scientific and research IT infrastructure for the Max Planck Society and the University of Göttingen. Day-to-day responsibilities include administering Linux servers, providing 2nd Level Support for containerized applications (Kubernetes/Docker) such as digital whiteboards and microservices, and managing monitoring and backup systems. A key aspect of the job involves setting up and customizing GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Candidates must have a background in IT system integration or a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with practical experience in Linux/UNIX system administration and configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible. Strong German and English language skills are required, along with a commitment to quality, service orientation, and teamwork in a dynamic research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration or a completed degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, a technical/natural science-mathematical subject, or equivalent demonstrable practical experience.

Experience
