Job Summary

The GWDG is seeking a highly motivated Quantum Software Engineer to join their interdisciplinary HPC team, focusing on the QUICS project which aims to provide secure, low-threshold access to quantum resources for SMEs. This role involves developing and maintaining hybrid classical-quantum workflows, evaluating QC applicability through instructive use cases, and performing suitability analyses for industrial applications. A key responsibility is the scalable and efficient setup of quantum computing simulators within an HPC environment, alongside cost-aware execution of quantum algorithms on cloud backends. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, possesses good knowledge of quantum computing (algorithms, NISQ architectures), and is fluent in Python development, particularly within Jupyter environments. The position offers flexible working hours, mobile work options, and the opportunity for a doctorate, placing the engineer at the intersection of HPC, Quantum Computing, and AI research.
