Job Summary

This permanent position in Koblenz is with the Federal Agency for Inland Traffic Technology (ABVT), a key service provider for federal waterways, focusing on operating and developing critical traffic technology systems. The successful engineer will be responsible for the technical and service-oriented management of complex information systems, including fiber optic networks (SDH, MPLS) and radio operating networks (NIF, AIS, DGNSS). Day-to-day tasks involve analyzing system performance documentation, coordinating maintenance and repair contracts with third parties, planning system upgrades and resource allocation, and managing procurement processes according to public contract law (UVgO, VgV). The role requires strong technical expertise in network and server technology, proficiency in project work, and excellent organizational skills to ensure the secure and available operation of essential infrastructure for inland navigation.

Required Skills

Education

Completed University of Applied Sciences Diploma (FH) or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Communications Technology/Information Technology, or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as an Engineer is desirable
  • Practical experience in project work is desirable
  • Experience with maintenance and repair contracts with third parties
  • Experience in conducting new and replacement procurements via tenders
