Job Summary
The Technical R&D Associate Scientist will join the Synthetic Molecules Technical Development group in Basel, playing a vital role in advancing Roche’s synthetic molecules portfolio. Your primary responsibilities involve the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods for various materials, including active substances and dosage forms, ensuring compliance with GxP and SOP requirements. You will independently plan and execute laboratory work, coordinate sample logistics, and prepare essential scientific documentation like validation reports and analytical procedures. The ideal candidate holds a scientific degree or vocational qualification and brings 3–5 years of industry experience, specifically in oligonucleotide analytics. Essential technical skills include practical expertise in HPLC and MS, with LC-MS experience being highly advantageous. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to crucial drug development processes in a dynamic, quality-focused, and English-speaking global environment.
Required Skills
Education
Scientific vocational qualification (e.g., apprenticeship) OR Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience focused on oligonucleotide analytics.
- Practical expertise in analytical techniques (HPLC, MS).
- Professional experience in independently planning, conducting, and documenting laboratory work in alignment with GxP and SOP requirements.
- Experience with LC-MS is a strong advantage.

Requires excellent digital skills, an innovative mindset, and a high willingness to learn and adopt new technologies. The role is based in Basel with up to 10% remote work.
