Job Summary

This full-time, permanent position involves supporting the Physics and Astronomy faculty at Ruhr-Universität Bochum by managing and maintaining the technical infrastructure of the Physics Laboratory Practical courses, which serve up to 1,000 students annually across various scientific disciplines. The technician will be responsible for the technical inspection, maintenance, repair, and new construction of experimental setups, including cost calculation and commissioning internal workshops. Key duties also include preparing technical equipment for lectures, ordering materials, performing electrical safety checks (protective conductor testing), and ensuring overall laboratory safety. The role requires a successfully completed technical vocational education, professional experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in German and English, alongside standard office software, to ensure the smooth operation of high-quality physics education.
