Job Summary
This role involves assessing the environmental risk of chemicals and substances for the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) in Augsburg. The specialist will focus on research and evaluation of substance properties, particularly persistence, distribution, and ecotoxicology, as part of a project utilizing AI-based modeling tools (QSAR) for the initial relevance assessment of new substances. Key responsibilities include building internal expertise in applying and interpreting these AI modeling tools, applying them to selected environmental chemicals, validating results against known data, and communicating findings through reports and presentations. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or (Eco)Toxicology, possesses strong knowledge in environmental chemistry, and ideally has experience with modeling, Artificial Intelligence, and advanced data processing systems. This is a fixed-term contract until March 2028.

University Degree (Master's or equivalent) in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, (Eco)Toxicology, or comparable field
Experience
- Professional experience in environmental chemistry and substance assessment (advantageous)
- Specific technical knowledge in modeling and Artificial Intelligence (desirable)
- Routine use of EDP programs and data processing systems
