Job Summary

This role seeks a detail-oriented, numerically inclined Engineer to join the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) in Augsburg, focusing on calculating and assessing traffic-related environmental emissions. The successful candidate will independently conduct complex calculations using specialized software tools like HBEFA, IMMIS, RLuS, and MISKAM to determine pollutant sources, predict dispersion, and evaluate the impact of traffic measures on air quality. Key responsibilities include data preparation (e.g., traffic, meteorology, infrastructure), evaluating air quality against limit values, generating reports, and visualizing data using GIS. Additionally, the role involves quality assurance within the gravimetric laboratory for fine dust and providing expert support to local governments on air pollution control plans. This is a permanent, part-time position (60%) offering flexible hours and the possibility of remote work after an initial period.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Dipl.-FH / Bachelor) in Environmental Technology, Process Engineering, Physical Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or comparable field, with a minimum grade of 'good'.

Experience

  • Long-term, relevant professional experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in applying HBEFA, IMMIS, RLuS, and MISKAM software or other modeling experience is an advantage
  • Professional experience in data preparation and documentation
  • Experience in evaluating air quality against immission limit values
