Job Summary

This role involves specialized administrative and field work supporting the State Bird Protection and Mammal Protection Unit in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The specialist will be responsible for conducting drone flights and field operations to collect ornithological data, managing the specimen collection and library, and coordinating technical equipment. Key tasks include contributing to waterbird counts, coordinating monitoring projects like 'Monitoring of Common Breeding Birds' (MhB), and managing, archiving, and developing the central database for Bavaria's total bird populations. The ideal candidate must possess strong avifaunistic knowledge, proficiency in GIS, and excellent communication skills in German (C1 level minimum). This is an attractive, permanent position offering flexible working hours, the possibility of remote work up to 50% after initial training, and involvement in significant statewide bird protection projects like 'ADEBAR 2'.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Biology, Landscape Management, Ecology, Nature Conservation, or a comparable field of study

Experience

  • Professional experience in a relevant field (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the instruments used by the state nature conservation administration (desirable)
