Job Summary

This role involves strategic and coordinating tasks within the Water Management sector, specifically focusing on the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. The successful candidate will manage data for management plans and reports, handle reporting obligations concerning municipal wastewater systems to federal and EU bodies, and support the technical supervision of water management offices and third parties regarding wastewater monitoring. Key responsibilities also include maintaining relevant databases and assisting in the qualification and supervision of accredited experts for sewage treatment plant monitoring. This position requires a university degree in engineering or natural sciences related to water management, strong German language skills (C1), and a structured, conceptual approach to complex environmental and legal issues. It is a full-time, fixed-term contract until December 31, 2027, based in Augsburg, Germany.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master/Diplom Univ.) in Water Management, Technical Environmental Protection, Process Engineering, Environmental Technology, Chemistry, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in an environmental administration (desirable)
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in administrative procedures and water/environmental law (desirable)
  • Experience using water management information systems, monitoring systems, and databases (desirable)
  • Experience with technical requirements for complex IT applications
