Job Summary

This role is a critical part-time (50%), fixed-term position until August 31, 2027, within the Geological Survey department of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) in Marktredwitz. The Certified Technician will primarily focus on maintaining and documenting laboratory results, including data entry into database systems, and preparing data sets according to the Geological Data Act (GeolDG) to fulfill internal and external data requests. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a Certified Technician in fields such as Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Geotechnics, and possesses practical experience in laboratory work. They should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to vital geoscientific research concerning land use, climate neutrality, and resource extraction within a highly motivated public sector team.

Required Skills

Education

Certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfte/r Techniker/in) in Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering, Physical Technology, Environmental Technology, Ceramics, Geology, Geotechnics, Process Engineering, or comparable field.

Experience

  • Practical knowledge derived from professional activity in laboratory work
  • Experience with multi-element measuring devices (e.g., ICP-OES, ICP-MS) and digestion procedures (Advantageous)

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Must possess a Class B driving license; Must be physically resilient (e.g., capable of carrying loads up to approx. 10 kg and working standing for several hours); Willingness to undertake occasional multi-day business trips, field work, and laboratory work in Hof; Fixed-term contract until 31.08.2027; Part-time (50%); Cannot be considered if previously employed by the Free State of Bavaria in a temporary or permanent capacity.
