This role seeks a highly motivated Research Associate in Experimental Plant Ecology to join the interdisciplinary "ArtINMin" project at the University of Greifswald, focusing on long-term nitrogen monitoring in agricultural systems. The associate will be crucial in Subproject 2, 'Monitoring Acker,' where they will define requirements for measurement systems and select suitable soil sensor technology. Key daily tasks involve planning and constructing controlled soil-plant mesocosms with precise nitrogen levels, automating the continuous monitoring of plant growth (using tools like minirhizotrons), and environmental conditions. The position also requires transferring successful mesocosm results to field experiments and actively contributing to scientific publications. Candidates must possess a strong background in plant ecology, expertise in programming automated measurement systems, and experience with statistical analysis, preferably in R.
