Job Summary
This critical role involves the planning, maintenance, and autonomous operation of Medium Voltage (6 kV, 20 kV) and associated Low Voltage (400 V) infrastructure across the Technical University of Darmstadt's extensive campus. The successful candidate will serve as the authorized switching and system responsible person, executing complex switching operations during disturbances and construction, and ensuring strict compliance with VDE regulations and safety standards. Day-to-day duties include regular functional testing of network protection devices, managing external contractors performing maintenance, and overseeing the operation and upkeep of PV systems, emergency power generators, and battery facilities. Furthermore, the technician will provide essential operational advice to project management teams during the planning and tendering phases for new construction and renovation projects. Required Skills
Education
Vocational training as an Electrician for Energy and Building Technology or Industrial Engineering, with further training as a State-Certified Technician in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Multiple years of professional experience in planning, maintenance, and operation of electrical systems (LV and MV)
- Experience holding authorized switching credentials for low and medium voltage systems
- Professional experience with control technology systems for medium voltage
- Experience with operation and maintenance of PV systems or willingness to undergo training
Languages
Additional
- Driving license Class B is required. Willingness to participate in on-call duty (Rufbereitschaft) and work outside of regular service hours is mandatory.
