Job Summary

The German Electron Synchrotron (DESY) is seeking a Chemical-Technical Assistant to support the operation and maintenance of chemistry and cleanroom laboratories for the PETRA III and upcoming PETRA IV synchrotron radiation facilities in Hamburg. This role is crucial for enabling international customers to successfully conduct experiments at the X-ray beamlines. Day-to-day responsibilities include general lab organization, providing scheduled instructions and support to English-speaking clients, managing administrative procurement processes for lab equipment and consumables, and performing maintenance and calibration of devices within the cleanroom and chemistry labs across the DESY campus. The ideal candidate holds a degree as a Chemical-Technical Assistant or equivalent experience, possesses professional experience operating chemical laboratories, and is proficient in handling chemicals, biological agents, and hazardous materials. Strong teamwork skills and good written and spoken English are essential for success in this international research environment.
