Job Summary

This role involves supporting the operation of the PETRA III and future PETRA IV chemistry and cleanroom laboratories at the DESY research center in Hamburg. The Chemical-Technical Assistant will be responsible for general laboratory organization, maintenance, and providing essential support to international, English-speaking customers conducting experiments at the X-ray beamlines. Key duties include managing administrative procurement processes for lab equipment and consumables, performing maintenance and calibration of laboratory devices across the campus, and ensuring the safe handling and storage of chemicals and hazardous materials. The ideal candidate must have a completed CTA qualification or equivalent experience, expertise in operating and maintaining chemical laboratories, and proficiency in automated and computer-based systems, alongside good written and spoken English skills.
