Job Summary

This critical role seeks a Process Engineer to provide technical and scientific support, ensuring the stability and efficiency of manufacturing processes within a strict cGMP environment in Basel. The primary responsibilities include acting as 1st and 2nd line support for manufacturing, participating in on-call duty, and coordinating troubleshooting activities and root cause analyses in close collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing teams. You will be responsible for reviewing and approving electronic batch records (MES-based), managing planned and unplanned events according to GMP guidelines, and leading or supporting process optimization and technology implementation projects. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering, preferably Biotechnology, and brings 3–5 years of experience in Upstream (USP) and/or Downstream Processing (DSP) of biotechnological products. This position offers the opportunity to represent the site in global network initiatives and requires a high level of accountability and excellent communication skills within international teams.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering; preferably Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in Downstream and/or Upstream Processing of biotechnological products
  • At least 2 years of experience in biopharmaceutical development or manufacturing
  • Demonstrable professional experience working in a cGMP-regulated environment

Additional

  • Must participate in on-call duty (Pikett) providing 1st and 2nd level support for Manufacturing. The role is a temporary assignment scheduled until September 30, 2026, based in Basel. Requires a team-oriented and self-reliant personality with high personal accountability.
