Job Summary

This role involves supporting critical in vivo research activities within the Pharmaceutical Sciences chapter of a major organization in Basel. As an In Vivo Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the high-quality execution of in vivo studies using rodents and rabbits, focusing on toxicology and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD). Daily tasks include clinical scoring, blood sampling, dosing via various routes (IP, IV, PO, subcutaneous), and conducting basic necropsy work. You will also be responsible for meticulous data collection, documentation, and verification using electronic capture systems. This position requires a mandatory accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) and a minimum of two years of hands-on experience working with laboratory animals, particularly rats and mice. This is an excellent opportunity to apply specialized technical skills in a fast-paced research environment, contributing directly to drug discovery, though it requires participation in rotational weekend duties. Fluent English is essential for success in this international team.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory profession, or substantial hands-on experience. Accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience with laboratory animals (rats and mice).
  • Professional experience as a laboratory technician, veterinary nurse, or animal technician.
  • Experience executing in vivo studies, including clinical scoring, blood sampling, and dosing.
  • Experience collecting, documenting, reviewing, and verifying data.
