Job Summary

This role is a 2-year fixed-term position within the "Sustainability and Nature Conservation" department in Karlsruhe, serving as a Specialist for Conservation Data. The core responsibility involves acting as a functional coordinator for conservation software related to area protection, bridging the gap between end-users and technical implementation. Day-to-day tasks include modernizing existing specialized applications, developing new tools for measure documentation, and ensuring the quality of critical conservation data. A significant part of the job involves supporting the implementation of European conservation directives (Natura 2000, FFH/Bird Protection), requiring expertise in managing and quality-assuring related databases. Candidates must possess a university degree in Biology, Geoecology, or Geoinformatics with strong GIS and ecological knowledge, coupled with technical understanding of databases and programming. This position offers meaningful work contributing directly to environmental protection in Baden-Württemberg.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor/FH Diploma) in Biology, Geoecology, Environmental Sciences, or comparable, with in-depth Geoinformation knowledge; OR Completed university degree in Geoinformatics or comparable, with ecological knowledge.
