Job Summary

This role as a Technical Assistant operates within the Central Washing and Media Kitchen at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, a critical service unit ensuring the smooth operation of biological research labs. The assistant is responsible for the comprehensive preparation and supply of laboratory materials, including cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of equipment and consumables using modern technology like autoclaves, lab washers, and drying cabinets. Key daily tasks involve preparing standardized media, managing laboratory waste, performing equipment maintenance and functional checks, and meticulous documentation aligned with scientific quality and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate possesses a recognized technical assistant qualification (preferably BTA or CTA), strong knowledge of handling hazardous materials, and a proactive, service-oriented approach. This position offers a challenging and responsible permanent role crucial for maintaining safety and efficiency across the university's laboratory infrastructure.
