Job Summary

This role involves supporting the research and teaching activities of the Nano-Bio-Technology working group at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The successful candidate will initiate, coordinate, and participate in cutting-edge research projects focusing on Bio-Sensorics, Single-Particle Spectroscopy, synthesis and functionalization of plasmonic nanoparticles, and theoretical modeling. Key responsibilities include managing a research subgroup, overseeing project and personnel management, coordinating joint project proposals, and maintaining scientific equipment. A significant part of the role involves teaching theoretical and practical courses in general, physical, and Nano-Bio-Technology chemistry. This challenging position requires a highly motivated individual with a strong background in chemistry, extensive experience in single-particle spectroscopy, and proven teaching abilities, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary, internationally renowned research.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed scientific university degree in Chemistry or related fields, Very good doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry or a related field

Experience

  • Professional experience in initiating and coordinating research projects
  • Extensive experience in Single-Particle Spectroscopy, particularly Plasmonics and Medical Diagnostics
  • Long-term teaching experience, including supervising practicals, designing new experiments, and holding seminars/tutorials
  • Professional experience in supervising scientific theses (ideally)
  • At least two years and six months of full-time professional activity after completing university studies
