Job Summary
This temporary, part-time Research Associate position at the University of Rostock focuses on cutting-edge analytical chemistry within the "PRIMo" collaborative project, studying modern food roasting processes, specifically coffee. The role involves conducting coffee roasting experiments under normal and high pressure, analyzing the resulting gases using advanced techniques like Photoionization Mass Spectrometry (PIMS) and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). A core responsibility is developing modular evaluation software using programming languages (like MATLAB, R, Python, or Labview) to process, interpret, and model the mass spectrometric data. The successful candidate will also establish statistical correlations between measurement data and sensory evaluations, create comprehensive databases, and validate models in industrial settings. This opportunity requires a strong background in instrumental analytical chemistry, excellent language skills in both German and English, and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
