Job Summary

As a Research Associate at the University of Rostock, you will lead scientific investigations within the 'Catfish Aquaculture' project, specifically focusing on aquaponic systems utilizing duckweed. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve planning and executing growth experiments, monitoring fish and plant health, and maintaining specialized aquaculture facilities both on-campus and at partner sites. You will be responsible for data evaluation, publishing research in international journals, and contributing to project reporting and public relations. This part-time (20 hours/week) position is ideal for researchers looking to combine practical fieldwork with academic rigor. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's, Diploma, or equivalent) in Biology, Aquaculture, or a related field with strong academic results.

Experience

  • Professional experience in biology, aquaculture, or a related scientific field
  • Practical experience in the field of aquaponics, specifically with duckweed, is highly desirable
  • Initial experience in managing research projects and publishing scientific results
  • Experience working with aquatic organisms (fish)
  • Experience in the assembly and operation of aquaculture facilities
