Job Summary

This part-time (50%) Research Associate position, based at Philipps University Marburg, offers a doctoral candidate the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in Molecular Plant Physiology. The core focus involves investigating the role of Salicylic Acid metabolism steps in the defense response of the model organism Arabidopsis thaliana, including its interaction with sugar availability signals and the antagonistic Abscisic Acid pathway. Day-to-day tasks include designing and executing experiments, characterizing Arabidopsis mutants using biochemical and molecular biology techniques, performing quantitative analysis of transcripts and metabolites (via UHPLC, IC, and optical/fluorometric assays), and presenting findings at internal and external conferences. The role also requires participation in teaching activities for Bachelor's and Master's programs. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry, strong knowledge of plant defense mechanisms, and practical experience with UHPLC and metabolite analytics, coupled with excellent presentation skills in both English and German.
