Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role, based at the Institute of Virology at Philipps University Marburg, focuses on cutting-edge research concerning the immunogenicity and efficacy of vaccines. The successful candidate will be responsible for the independent planning, execution, and evaluation of animal experiments, specifically using mouse models. A significant part of the role involves working with highly pathogenic viruses under BSL-4 safety conditions, requiring expertise in virological, cell biological, and animal experimental techniques. Furthermore, the position requires developing, standardizing, and applying methods for analyzing humoral and cellular immune responses. This is a fixed-term qualification position designed to acquire further scientific competencies, offering opportunities for independent project development and scientific qualification within a demanding translational cooperation project.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (State Examination, Master, or comparable) in Human Biology, Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or Medicine, along with a PhD or proof of a doctoral procedure nearing completion.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in the analysis of humoral and cellular immune responses
  • Several years of experience in conducting animal experiments with mice
  • Experience in handling highly pathogenic viruses (BSL-3 or BSL-4) (advantageous)
  • Experience in cell biological and virological methods (advantageous)
