Job Summary
This role involves critical field operations for the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, focusing on the maintenance and inspection of the nationwide Gamma Dose Rate (ODL) measurement network, particularly across Baden-Württemberg, parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, and Hesse. Day-to-day tasks include conducting nuclide-specific measurements using mobile systems, planning and executing service trips as a self-driver (potentially involving overnight stays), and ensuring the operational readiness of the mobile measurement system and service vehicle. The technician is also responsible for performing comparative measurements and creating comprehensive, digitally supported documentation of measurement sites. Key requirements include a State-Certified Technician degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics Technology, along with knowledge of digital data transmission, radio technology, and low voltage networks. This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to radiological emergency protection efforts, requiring readiness for field assignments, exercises, and potential deployments, including the use of respiratory protection.
Required Skills
Education
State-Certified Technician degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably Information and Communication Technology focus) or Physics Technology
Experience
- Professional experience in digital data transmission and radio technology
- Professional experience in electronic data processing
- Ideally, experience in radiation protection
- Ideally, experience with DGUV3 inspections
- Professional experience working on low voltage networks (230V)

- Must be suitable for extensive field service, including overnight stays; ability to drive a motor vehicle and act as a self-driver for service trips; willingness to participate in radiological emergency protection, exercises, and potential deployments (including wearing respiratory protection); physical fitness required for lifting and carrying loads up to 20 kg; willingness to act as an electrically instructed person; primary duty location is Freiburg.
