Job Summary

This role supports the Diptera (Two-winged Insects) department at the Senckenberg German Entomological Institute in Müncheberg. The primary responsibility involves the inventory, reorganization, and integration of extensive entomological research collections. Day-to-day tasks include cataloging collection material using MS Office and databases, conserving dipterological objects (dry, alcohol, and inclusion preparations), and identifying scientifically valuable type specimens based on original literature. The assistant will also perform digital image documentation of specimens and manage international collection loans and visiting researchers. Key qualifications include completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant for natural history museums or comparable biological-technical qualifications, experience with fragile collection material, and proficiency in entomological preparation techniques.
