Job Summary

This permanent, full-time (or optional part-time) position requires an enthusiastic researcher and data manager to coordinate high-level scientific activities at the Rhine-Main-Observatory (RMO) and the Synthesis Center on Freshwater Biodiversity Change in Europe. Day-to-day tasks involve coordinating research contributions to the eLTER RI, managing vast biodiversity datasets, including quality assurance/control, and applying advanced statistical methods (using R) to analyze spatial and temporal ecological data. The coordinator will elucidate patterns and trends in taxonomic and functional diversity, prepare scientific manuscripts for high-tier journals, and mentor graduate students. This role is ideal for a post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in macroecology, time series analysis, and experience managing large-scale ecological datasets, offering access to an international research network within a leading biodiversity institution.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in Ecology or a related field

Experience

  • Significant experience as a postdoctoral researcher
  • Professional experience in (macro-) ecology and biodiversity research
  • Extensive experience covering both freshwater and terrestrial invertebrates
  • Experience with at least two more taxonomic groups of the Synthesis Center
  • Strong track record of publications in high-tier ecological journals
  • Experience in project/personnel management and report writing
