Job Summary
This role supports the Domestication Genomics working group, focusing on the evolution and relationships of cultivated and wild plant species using genomic, genetic, and cytogenetic methods. The assistant will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting molecular biology experiments, including DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, sequencing, microscopy, and genome size measurements. A significant part of the job involves general laboratory management, such as maintaining equipment, preparing buffers and solutions, and managing supplies and ordering. Furthermore, the assistant will prepare libraries for high-throughput sequencing and may support plant cultivation, propagation, and crossing experiments. Candidates must hold a vocational qualification as a Biological Laboratory Technician or equivalent and possess routine experience handling DNA and RNA in a lab setting. Good organizational skills and proficiency in English are required for effective collaboration within the multicultural research team. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until April 2029, offering involvement in cutting-edge plant genomics research.

Education
Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician (Biologielaborant/in), Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Routine professional experience performing laboratory work with DNA and RNA
- Professional experience in planning, processing, and documenting molecular biology experimental series
- Experience in general laboratory management and logistics
