Job Summary

This fixed-term, part-time (22 hours/week) Research Associate position at the University of Rostock focuses on Waste and Material Flow Management within the climate-relevant research project, 'StarTe.' The primary objective is to investigate thermal hydrophobization, specifically applying thermal processes to wood fibers and particles to develop stable peat substitutes. Daily responsibilities include designing, constructing, and commissioning specialized research reactors for hydrothermal hydrophobization. The associate will conduct extensive measurement campaigns, analyze the effects of thermal treatment on various biomass types, and rigorously document and publish the scientific findings. The role requires a completed scientific university degree (Master’s level) in Process and Energy Technology or a comparable field, achieved with a good result, alongside several years of professional experience in thermal process planning and engineering.
