Job Summary

This fixed-term research position (until May 2028) at the University of Rostock focuses on cutting-edge power electronics within the *VollWind* project, specifically developing high-efficiency converters for multi-megawatt wind energy systems. The role involves hands-on research, including the experimental and simulative investigation of novel power semiconductors with blocking voltages exceeding 2kV, and the subsequent development of associated electronic modules. Key responsibilities also include presenting and discussing research outcomes with project partners. Candidates must possess a completed Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, coupled with excellent knowledge of power electronics. Practical experience with high-voltage semiconductor measurements (> 1kV) and analog/digital circuit design is highly preferred. This role offers the opportunity to pursue a doctorate (Promotion) while contributing to vital renewable energy technology.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master, or comparable) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or comparable fields, preferably with a very good result.

Experience

  • Professional experience in researching multi-megawatt converter concepts
  • Practical experience with measurements on power semiconductors > 1kV
  • Practical experience with analog and digital circuit technology
