Job Summary

The University of Rostock is seeking a Research Associate in Power Electronics to contribute to the WindTurbine2030 project. This role focuses on developing grid-forming converter control systems for wind energy plants, a key technology for Germany's energy transition. Day-to-day tasks involve researching advanced control concepts, simulating the power section and control of converters, and testing these concepts in a laboratory environment. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, possesses excellent knowledge of power electronics and control engineering, and has professional experience in converter control, preferably for PV or wind energy systems. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until January 31, 2029, offering the opportunity for doctoral studies (Promotion) and engaging in cutting-edge research crucial for modern electrical grids.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master, or comparable degree) in Electrical Engineering or a comparable subject, preferably with a very good result

Experience

  • Professional experience with converter control, preferably for PV or wind energy plants
  • Desirable experience with PSCAD
  • Desirable experience with µC or DSP programming
