Job Summary

The Data and AI Platform Architect is crucial for implementing the company's data strategy, focusing on stabilizing the existing BI platform while driving the development of a new, AWS-based Data and AI platform. This hands-on role involves designing architecture, defining operating concepts, and setting technical guardrails for nearshore partners. Key responsibilities include working with core AWS data services like Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, Redshift, and Glue, and ensuring platform security and cost control in collaboration with the Product Owner. The architect will work hands-on on analytical and technical tasks, implementing DataOps/MLOps practices, and utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation. Furthermore, the role involves designing a central Data Shop/Catalog, evaluating Data Mesh principles, and providing technical guidance, coaching, and enablement to involved teams and stakeholders, ensuring successful execution of the enterprise data strategy.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree, ideally focused on IT, Data Management, or Business Informatics

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, or AWS Cloud Architecture
  • Extensive practical experience with AWS data services (e.g., Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation)
  • Experience in technical leadership, coaching, and enablement
  • Proficiency in Data Engineering fundamentals (Orchestration, Batch/Streaming, Data Formats like Parquet/Iceberg)

  • Must be located in the Greater Munich area (or associated locations: Leipzig, Frankfurt am Main, Switzerland) with 50% mobile work availability.
