Job Summary

This role involves joining the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin-Steglitz as a Scientific Research Associate, focusing on the preservation of cultural heritage. The primary objective is the scientific execution of the ZIM project, which aims to develop an advanced museum display case offering optimal protection for art and cultural goods against harmful environmental factors. Day-to-day responsibilities include the technical implementation for generating precise test gas atmospheres and setting up and monitoring complex experimental test stands. You will rigorously test the new procedure by varying conditions such as temperature, humidity, and air exchange rates, followed by detailed evaluation, documentation, and reporting of results. Key qualifications include a scientific university degree in Chemistry or Technical Environmental Protection, profound expertise in active and passive sampling of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using GC/MS and HPLC, and experience managing independent research projects. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, fluency in both German and English for publications, and a structured, goal-oriented approach to scientific work.
