Job Summary
This role supports a DFG-Emmy-Noether research group focused on the mechanisms of barley stem elongation and grain yield determination. The Biological Technical Assistant will be crucial in managing the entire plant lifecycle, from sowing and maintenance to harvesting barley plants in greenhouses and fields. Key laboratory tasks include assisting with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and sequencing, alongside performing morphometric analysis of barley stems and ears. A core responsibility involves procurement and inventory management, ensuring timely ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies, equipment, and reagents. Candidates must possess a completed qualification as a Biological Technical Assistant or equivalent, along with basic knowledge of plant morphology and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse, international team. The position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality data generation.
Required Skills
Education
Completed qualification as a Biological Technical Assistant, Biological Laboratory Technician, Plant Technologist, or comparable qualification.
