Job Summary

This role involves actively shaping the sustainable future of steel production as part of the major corporate project SALCOS (Salzgitter CO2-Reduced Steel Production). The Materials Engineer or Scientist, based in Salzgitter, will be responsible for investigating and evaluating classic and modern steel materials using advanced metallographic-analytical methods, including SEM/EDX/EBSD, ESMA, and GDOES, alongside quantitative microstructure analysis. A key focus is the continuous development and automation of these analytical methods and the maintenance of measurement equipment. The successful candidate will support and advise internal clients, participate in internal and external R&D projects, and mentor interns and students working on final theses. This position requires strong technical proficiency, high initiative, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary, highly qualified teams.
