Job Summary

This crucial role supports the major corporate initiative SALCOS®, focusing on CO2-reduced steel production, by joining the Materials Characterization team in Salzgitter. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and evaluating classic and modern steel materials using advanced metallographic and analytical techniques, including SEM/EDX/EBSD, ESMA, and GDOES, alongside quantitative microstructure analysis. A key daily task involves driving the continuous development, automation, and digitalization of these analytical methods and maintaining the measurement facilities. You will act as a consultant, supporting and advising internal corporate clients, and actively participating in internal and external research and development (R&D) projects. The position requires a degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Metallurgy, combined with practical experience in the listed analytical procedures and proficiency in IT applications like MATLAB, ImageJ, or Python.
