Job Summary

The Building Safety Officer role serves as the crucial link between the large-scale construction project site and the operating organization, focusing specifically on the renovation of Building 50 in Basel. This highly specialized position requires a background as a Chemical Technician or Laboratory Technician, coupled with at least three years of professional experience in chemical production and specialized certification in occupational safety (such as EKAS or ASGS). Key responsibilities include supporting the existing Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) organization, issuing work permits for external contractors, monitoring strict adherence to safety regulations, and conducting site inspections. This is a demanding role within a GMP-relevant environment, requiring fluent German and English, and the ability to maintain composure and critical thinking in fast-paced situations. The position is initially a one-year contract with potential for long-term integration into the operator organization, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a major CAPEX project in the pharmaceutical industry.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Chemical Technician or Laboratory Technician; Additional certification as a Safety Assistant, Safety Specialist (EKAS), or Occupational Safety Specialist (ASGS/ASiG)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in chemical production
  • Proven experience derived from large-scale construction projects
  • Experience working within production facilities of the chemical or pharmaceutical industry
