Job Summary

This role involves supporting world-class scientific experiments at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum and the FAIR facility by ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical and electronic equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing analog and power electronics, including circuit design and building replacement power supplies, as well as maintaining, repairing, and servicing conventional and facility-specific devices, sometimes with incomplete documentation. A critical part of the job is acting as the Deputy Electrical Safety Officer (VEVK) for the research area, helping to establish and implement a legally compliant electrical engineering organization. The position requires advising experiment groups on high-voltage technology (up to 50 kV) and assisting with the selection and procurement of components, making it ideal for a pragmatic, customer-oriented professional with expertise in electrical safety regulations and circuit technology.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Electrical Engineering or Technician qualification in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Power Engineering / Industrial Electronics, or comparable qualification/professional experience

Experience

  • Significant experience with the repair of electrical devices
  • Experience in analog circuit technology
  • Knowledge in high-voltage technology within an experimental environment
  • Knowledge and experience in the structure and function of physical experiments (advantageous)
  • Experience as an Electrical Safety Officer (VEFK) (advantageous)
