Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Scientist position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an ERC-funded project focused on unraveling the genetic architecture of root traits in cereals, specifically maize. The core mission involves applying cutting-edge techniques, including single-cell, single nuclei, and spatial transcriptomics, to construct a detailed, high-resolution atlas of the maize root system. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing complex genomic and transcriptomic datasets, performing detailed root anatomical phenotyping via microscopy, and disseminating research findings through scientific publications and oral presentations. Successful candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field like Plant Science or Genetics and possess proven experience with modern bioinformatic and genomic methods, such as sequencing data analysis and specialized RNA-seq techniques (sc/sn-RNA-seq or Stereo-seq). The role requires strong scientific curiosity, autonomy, and excellent collaboration skills within a supportive, well-equipped research environment.
