Job Summary
This is a full-time, permanent position within the Higher Service at the State Institute for the Environment Baden-Württemberg (LUBW) in Karlsruhe, focusing on the critical area of Radioactivity and Radiation Protection. The successful candidate will be responsible for the IT-technical operation and administration of the computer-aided Nuclear Reactor Remote Monitoring System (KFÜ-BW), a central component of civil protection. Day-to-day tasks include managing databases, networks, and data transfer for the KFÜ system, administering radioactivity measurement networks, and validating data. The role also involves developing technical concepts for network advancement, participating in radiological emergency response teams, and conducting simulations for the spread of radioactive substances. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline and possess a strong combination of scientific background and excellent IT skills, particularly in databases and network administration. Practical experience in radiation protection and measurement technology is highly desirable, making this an ideal role for a detail-oriented professional committed to public safety and environmental protection.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree (or equivalent Diploma/Master's program) in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. Non-university Master's degrees must be accredited for access to the Higher Service.
Experience
- Practical experience in Computer Science (e.g., databases, networks, Windows Server)
- Knowledge in radioactivity, radiation protection, and measurement technology
- Desirable knowledge in dispersion calculation (Ausbreitungsrechnung)
Languages
Additional
- Must be willing to undertake occasional field assignments and maintenance work (Außendienst). Foreign degrees require certification evaluation from the Central Office for Foreign Education.
