Job Summary

This doctoral position at the Helmholtz Centre for One Health (HIOH) in Greifswald focuses on the CiFly Citizen Science project, which monitors biodiversity and antimicrobial resistance using environmental DNA (eDNA) collected from flies, water, and leaf swabs. The successful candidate will manage sample logistics, execute complex molecular analyses including eDNA isolation, PCR, Metabarcoding, sequencing, and bioinformatic evaluation. A significant part of the role involves educational outreach, requiring the preparation and execution of teaching units, communication with teachers and partners, and supervising students during practical sessions to foster a lively exchange between science and society. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Biosciences, strong laboratory experience (ideally in molecular biology), and a keen interest in pedagogy and science communication. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research within the Helmholtz Association, utilizing modern labs and advanced analytical instruments, with an initial contract duration of three years.
